Thunderbolts: Wolverine-Days of Future Past

Thunderbolts 2010, from Wolverine:Days of Future Past 2 Wolverine: Days of Future Past (Issues 1, 2, 3; December 1997 - February 1998)

Notes: In a potential future where the robot Sentinels have killed or captured most super-humans in North America, Wolverine is on a quest to find his long-lost goddaughter. He runs afoul of the Black King and Psylocke (here known as the Red Queen), who have a plot to rule the world, and of Magneto and Jubilee, who are determined to stop that plot. Helmut Zemo is a uniformed lackey to the Sentinels, and also a co-conspirator of the Black King, leading a new band of robotic and cybernetic soldiers that he refers to as "Thunderbolts." Featured players include Leech, the Scarlet Witch, Sync, and the White Queen. Cameos by a few X-Men: Colossus, Kitty Pryde, and Storm.

Comments: This story is set in the cataclysmic future first envisioned by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in the revered X-Men story "Days of Future Past." But the writer takes no real advantage of the horrifying situation, instead relying on a megalomaniac-with-an-infernal-device plot that could be set at pretty much any point in Marvel’s timeline. The final chapter is marred by distracting lettering errors.
