"Wish You Were Here"

I'm writing you this letter dear, because I miss you so,
It's a lonely Chrismas here, beneath the misletoe.
It's been almost a year now, since you went away...
And still I wipe these tears of mine, every single day.

I put up a tree over in the corner, just like we used to do,
Underneath it is only one gift, and darl'n it's for you.
And on the tree I hung the cards, I sent you thru the years,
'Cause I know how much you loved them, and they brought you lots of cheer.

All the letters that I sent you, are hang'n up there too,
And now and then I read them all, just like you used to do.
We used to sit by the old wood stove and talk on and on for hours,
You'd read to me some Christmas poems, while I picked the Wildwood-Flower.

Those were times I can't forget, so ever now and then...
I'll drag out my old guitar, and play that song again.
The kids all send their love to you, here on this Christmas Day...
They don't call much anymore, since they moved away.

But I know that you'll watch over them and keep them safe from harm.
I know you watch their every move and keep them nice and warm.
And darl'n don't worry none, 'cause I got ever thing I need...
Sit'n here pick'n the Wildwood Flower and smok'n that Wildwood Weed!
