Chapter 7: Here Behind the Shadows

The three set out to avenge Sade’s death and to vanquish the creature. Also they haven’t forgotten that their concert was nearing and Psyche’s promise to Linesy. Psyche and Dream agreed to meet Lachesis before they could even prepare for anything. Fortunately Lachesis has her usual habitual timing and showed up the moment Psyche and Dream came looking for them. On the other hand, Ravie was left behind to fix other band matters specially the loss of their former band mate. They met in the usual old alley near the park and the bar they always hangout.

"Nice timing." Psyche commented. Dream just smirked.

"Thanks for the compliment but as you can see we have no time for that. Osiris is breaking out slowly but surely. I’m not really sure what his moves are but I have a feeling none of us would want to find out."

"So you have a certain plan to vanquish the evil demon?" Psyche asked sarcastically.

"As a matter of fact I have. But it involves you in your concert with thousands of people watching."

"What are you talking about?" Psyche asked.

"What I mean is you have to destroy Osiris during your concert whether you like it or not. It’s your only chance."

"What the heck are you talking about?! You know I can’t do that! Do you know how many lives can be endangered?" Psyche said hysterically.

"Not as many if you don’t do it. And the chances are higher too. Besides, your concert is only three days away. How the hell are you gonna destroy that creature with that hectic schedule?"

"Hmmm…you’ve got a point."

"Right, as I was saying you’re gonna go out there as cued and hand him this." Lachesis gave Psyche a jewel the same as the Orb of Seth.

"Hey I thought this was destroyed?"

"It was. This is only an imitation. But I put a spell on it which will trap Osiris forever and will drain him of everything."

"So what do I do with it?"
"Just simply draw him into you then use that as if your using the orb itself and everything would do as it should."

"Hmm…sounds easy?"

"Maybe. You’re cunning as always Psyche but remember you still lack something and that will result to your downfall."

"We’ll see."

"Indeed." as always Lachesis disappeared out of nowhere leaving the two behind. Dream smirked then turned to Psyche.

"I don’t trust her."

"Neither do I but she has this ability to seem to know everything. Unfortunately she’s always right so we don’t really have a choice, do we?" Psyche pointed out. Dream just shook his head and sneered silently. And the two returned to the studio.

They prepared for the big day. They still didn’t lost track on what they were supposed to do and Linesy made sure that Psyche didn’t forget.

"Oh it’s you again." Psyche said frustratingly seeing Linesy on the couch. He dropped his things on the floor and did his normal routine ignoring her as if she wasn’t there.

"I just want you to know I heard about your friend’s little accident and I just want to say it to you personally my deepest condolences." Linesy tries to sound so sincere.

"Oh Geeze, I’m sure we all appreciate that!" Psyche said mockingly.

"I guess you’re pretty used to this by now." Linesy joked.

"How ever did you guess? Man has a certain way adapting in harsh situations. Especially annoying ones." Psyche said sarcastically.

"Yeah, yeah I’ll leave at once. I came here because I want to make sure that we’re still on and you have the whole night to think about how you can straighten yourself up once you’re in my domain. Victory is so sweet! Isn’t it?"

"It’s delicious! Now will you please get out of here! I’m dead tired and I don’t want to here ranting from you or anyone else!" Psyche practically stormed shoving Linesy out and banging the door behind her. He was so relieved after that. Linesy made her way out assuredly. On the contrary she was even amused at Psyche’s anger. She was so confident in winning their ‘bet’. Lachesis stood behind Linesy’s shadows not aware of what was really going on.

"It won’t be long now, it won’t be long…" Lachesis grinned within the shadows she was so at home with.

Meanwhile, Ravie stayed late at the studio the day before the concert. He was extra careful reviewing all his lines and arranging the equipment. He was so excited about tomorrows concert he made sure everything was perfect. Sure he didn’t forget what happened to Sade or his friends but he knew his angst would only hold him back so he tried to be cheerful as possible and do his best. He wanted Mescaline to perform so well and Psyche to be proud of him. He grabbed his bag and sent of outside to go home. He fixed his outfit but when he turned to greet everyone farewell, Lachesis appeared before him.

"Hello dear boy." Lachesis greeted.

"Hello. Hey, aren’t you that lady who came with Psyche?" Ravie asked.

"Correct. And like him I’ve got some news for you."

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is if you really want to know the truth about your precious leader you would come with me. You’d want that, don’t you?"

"What are you talking about? Psyche tells the band everything now. He said he would never keep anything from me ever since Sade died."

"Are you sure?" With that Lachesis entered some sort of portal beckoning Ravie to follow.

"Hey wait up!" Ravie cried without hesitating he also entered the portal. The next thing he knew he was at Psyche’s apartment.

"Hey what re we doing here?" Ravie asked Lachesis.

"Hush and watch little one." Lachesis said silencing the boy. Ravie observed Psyche. He kind of felt sorry for him because he saw Psyche so tired and miserable about all his problems.

"Lachesis, Psyche looked so sad. Is there anything I can do to help?"

"You haven’t seen anything yet." Lachesis sneered.

Suddenly he saw Dream coming at Psyche’s door. He first took a deep breath and then he knocked. Psyche answered the door and when he realized who it was, he quickly fell in Dream’s arms. Psyche stopped looking dazzled and glad but the sadness still can’t be taken away. Dream stared for a while and then without hesitation, he took Psyche’s lips with his own. Then half dragged, half carried with lips still entwined, Dream carried the younger man to the bed. Ravie watched with shock and disappointment as he saw his older members making love in front of him. He wanted to break down and cry but he was too devastated to even try to flinch a muscle.

"Oh my…" Ravie uttered distraught with tears.

"So what do you think of him now?" Lachesis hovered about Ravie’s shoulder while he was stunned speechless.

"Well then, I guess now that you know your ever beloved role model and fantasy lover is with your ever ominous and silent vocalist how do you feel? Rather what would you do now?" Lachesis added.

"I don’t really know how I feel right now…" Ravie sobbed.

"I still can’t believe he lied to me for the second time…but I don’t think I’m that surprised as I ought to be." Ravie continued.

"Oh?" Lachesis said. Ravie just shook his head.

"Uh-uh I think I know this all this time. I guess that’s why I want to talk to them so much."

"You think? Then why didn’t you do anything about it? You like Psyche so much."

"I don’t know. It’s just that I can’t stop believing. Psyche said I should always believe so that I’ll feel fine. I guess I do feel a little. But now, I’m so confused cause either way it still hurts."

"You believe because Psyche told you too? Isn’t that a bit too awkward? He lied to you but still you believe him."

"Yes. I don’t understand it myself but I believe everything he tells me. And I believe him more because he makes me happy and he took care of me like no one did. Sade said he’s doing things because he didn’t want me to get hurt and I should understand. He’s having a hard time. I know Psyche is a good person and so is Dream. Both of them are very dear to me and I love Mescaline so much. Psyche needs me to believe. I can’t ruin that."

"Yes, I know you care too much but how about yourself? You’re ruining yourself."

"Then why are you ruining us? I know it hurts but both of them are my friends. I need to understand him. I love him so much and I guess I would not stand up as a lover but the least I can do is be there for him."

"Suit yourself." Lachesis said and disappeared suddenly. Ravie held a long sigh and the next thing he knew, he was back on the street where he met Lachsesis.

‘If I love him I should understand. I love them so much therefore I would believe no matter what. I have to be strong and believe for our band…for our Dreams.’

Ravie thought as he went on his way home.

"Dream?" Psyche said while he entangled himself in Dreams hold. He felt Dream shifted so he continued what he wanted to say.

"Do you think what we did what right?"

"You’re asking the same question Psyche, I presume you already know that."

"Well I don’t! Besides I don’t think Ravie will be too happy about this." Psyche whined.

"If you haven’t realize I don’t think he’s as clueless as you think he is." Dream pointed.

"You know you really should stop doing things you’re gonna regret."

"Yes but it just feels so right when you’re doing it and the next thing you know you’re the one out in the gutter. Like now."

"Well we do get carried away." Dream responded.

"I suppose. I just hope this won’t be the last."

"I’m sure it won’t."

"Yes, it’s a wish we just have to believe in." Psyche lay oblivious within Dream trying to forget everything. Dream does the same way, to forget and continue wishing. The only way they know best so to continue and keep on going…to forever.
