Fenris: Giving freaks a bad name, from Gambit 10 "Waiting for the Princess" Gambit 10 (November 1999)
(1999/11/01)

Reader Rating: Above Average; Thunderbolts Interest: Medium

Summary: The Princess of the title is a jewel that may have time-warping properties, and that appears at a certain spot in Berlin every thirty years or so. Young Wolfgang von Strucker first spots it in 1916. An older von Strucker then actively pursues it during World War II, colliding with Jean Luc LeBeau, Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos. In modern day, Gambit and a beautiful associate named Sekmeht Conoway find themselves in a race with Fenris for the gem.

Continuity: Andrea and Andreas are more blatantly bizarre than ever before. They are laid out by Gambit and his friend but not incarcerated.

Comments: Written by Fabian Nicieza, this story naturally interprets the twins very similarly to the upcoming Citizen V mini-series. This story touches on the father-son themes that Fabian will aggressively pursue as Andreas transforms into the Swordsman.
